LENF worked with communities, local NGOs, the local government and the private sector to produce environmental education and training materials as well as activities which promote sustainable development in the Niger Delta.

In the oil sector, LENF worked to share new approaches with key players in the community assistance programme.

In fourteen selected communities, Living Earth Nigeria Foundation worked with village groups to design and implement micro-projects related to the use and management of the community's natural resources. By providing information and developing the appropriate skills, LENF helped communities to manage their natural resources more effectively.

The Living Earth Environmental Action Programme (LEEAP), directly benefited communities in the following ways:

• Strengthening and empowering community institutions.

• Increasing their understanding of the environment to promote positive change.

• Training in sustainable resource management.

• Funding for community projects.

• Establishing community managed micro-credit schemes.
