Living Earth signs partnership agreement with SPDC for innovative 'Gas to Power' project in the Niger Delta...

In March 2010 Living Earth UK signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Shell Petroleum Development Corporation for the implementation of a community based 'Gas to Power' project in the Niger Delta.

The project, which is also funded by the EC and DFID, aims to address the problems created by gas flaring in the region by using this gas to generate electricity for local communities. The project will see the construction of a groundbreaking gas to power plant, which will be managed by the communities themselves - enabling communities to see a real benefit from the oil production that has done much to fuel discontent across the region.
